Sanford, Florida is a great place to live and work! Situated in central Florida, on the south shore of Lake Monroe, it is one of the oldest incorporated cities in Central Florida, with a history stretching back to the mid 1700′s when the Timucuan Indians lived on the shores of the lake. The town was incorporated in 1877 and still retains much of the charm of that age; a stroll down one of Sanford’s streets reveals 19th century architecture evident in elegant Victorian homes, brick lined streets, and in storefronts reminiscent of a bygone era.

Schools in Sanford have an average 16.4 students per teacher, which is lower than Florida’s state average of 17.9 student/teacher ratio. Close proximity to Orlando and Disney World supports Sanford’s economy by boosting retail and to some extent, tourism. But this is a city that is proudly family oriented; and is protective of its’ small town feel. Although the population has risen 33.2% since 2000 and now stands at 50,998 the average commute time is only 27 minutes which is slightly lower than the nation’s average of 28 minutes.
