Service Area Spotlight: Raleigh

Raleigh, the state capital of North Carolina, is the second largest city in the state. Ranking the 43rd largest city in the nation, Raleigh’s industries are very diverse. The economy is strengthened by electronic, telecommunications equipment, banking, apparel, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and medical industries. A large contributor is the shipping and distribution of retail and groceries. As a part of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, Raleigh is also a major center in the nation for Biotech and high tech research, along with leading textile development.

Education is important to parents, children and young adults. Whether it be for elementary or higher learning, Raleigh has many schools available. For primary and secondary education there are several public, charter, private and religious based schools to choose from. For college students there are both public and private institutions, including North Carolina State University and Wake Technical Community College. In 2011, Raleigh was honored and ranked by Time magazine for being the 3rd most educated city in the United States. With a standard of excellence in Raleigh, all age groups are sure to earn a first-class education.The abundance of oak trees throughout the city, has given Raleigh the name ‘City of Oaks’. The city’s landscape is made up of rolling hills and is conveniently located only two hours away from the Atlantic Ocean. The climate in the region is humid subtropical, with summer temperatures averaging from 80-90 degrees. The winters are mild with temperatures in the high 40′s and an average of 6 inches of snow each year. With it’s beautiful terrain and mild seasons Raleigh is a wonderful place to visit or call home.
