Types of Custom Boxes
Regular Slotted Containers (RSC)
All flaps of the Regular Slotted Container (RSC) have the same length, and the two outer flaps meet at the center of the box where they can be secured together. If the product requires added protection or a level base, corrugated pads can be included between the two inner flaps. The efficient design of the RSC has made it a popular corrugated box style for storage as well as shipping.
Half Slotted Container (HSC)
The Half-Slotted Container with Cover (HSC) style of corrugated boxes is frequently used for both shipping and shelf storage, and in applications where the cover must be removed and replaced frequently. The top of the HSC corrugated box is a tray style which usually extends less than 2/3 the depth of the bottom (PHSC), but can be made to extend the full depth of the bottom (FHSC) if extra strength is needed.
Overlap Slotted Container (OSC)
The Overlap Slotted Container (OSC) style works well when you need a box with a length that is considerably greater than the width, resulting in a long gap between the inner flaps. All of the flaps have the same length and the outer flaps overlap by one inch or more. This allows the box to be easily closed with adhesives or frequently with staples through the overlap area.
Full Overlap Slotted Container (FOL)
The Full Overlap Container (FOL) is ideal for corrugated boxes with relatively narrow widths. The outer flaps overlap the full width of the box making it especially resistant to rough handling. And, the extra thicknesses of corrugated material on the top and bottom panels provide added stacking strength.
Regular Slotted Container With Variable Flaps (RSCVF)
The Regular Slotted Container with Variable Flaps (RSCVF) style of corrugated box is similar to the RSC shipping box, except the outer flaps overlap by an inch or more. The RSCVF style of corrugated shipping box is used when the length of the box is considerably greater than the width and results in an excessively long distance between the end flaps. This makes it necessary to overlap the outer flaps to prevent them from spreading apart. The RSCVF corrugated box is usually closed with staples through the overlapping flaps, but can be glued or taped.
Center Special Full Overlap Slotted Container (SFF)
The Center Special Full Overlap Slotted Container (SFF) style has two layers of flaps with both an Inner and outer layer that are cut to different lengths. The inner flaps meet at the center of the box, and outer flaps then overlap to close the box. The multiple layers of combined board over the entire top and bottom provide additional cushioning when the container is stacked on its bottom and/or stacked on its side.
One Piece Folder (1P-F)
The One-Piece Folder (1P-F) is made from one piece of corrugated material and has a flat bottom with flaps that form the sides and ends. The outer flaps meet at the center to form the top. 1P-F can be made with multiple scores so that one box can be folded to make up to three different size boxes. The 1P-F is used principally for shipping books, catalogs, videos, and similar items. 1P-F is easy to store, set up, pack and close.
Telescope Design Box (TD)
Telescope Design Boxes (TD) are ideal for products that require an extra strong corrugated box. TD corrugated boxes are made in two pieces; a top and bottom. The top of a TD box can be made with either a Full Telescope (FTD), or a Partial Telescope (PTD). The full depth (FTD) top slides completely over the bottom providing extra thickness of material on all side and end panels. This provides compression strength suitable for high stacking of fragile items. Both the tops and bottoms are shipped flat. The corners are then assembled using staples or adhesive.
Point of Purchase Displays (POP)
Similar to the Half Slotted Container (HCS), Point of Purchase (POP) can provide excellent visual access to the product inside at point-of-purchase. Variations can provide self-shipper displays for counters or for pallet oriented distribution of consumer goods. The point-of-purchase/half slotted containers are suitable for display of products at club warehouses and mass merchandisers.
Double Cover Boxes (DC)
Double Cover (DC) corrugated boxes is a corrugated container that is frequently used for tall or heavy products that would be difficult to lower into a box. The item is placed on the two interchangeable covers (top and bottom) of the Double Cover (DC) corrugated box is tray style and usually extends only a few inches down the center of the shipping container.
Corrugated Pads, Corner Pads, Scored Pads, Dividers, Inner Packing Pieces
Corrugated pads provide an extra layer protection for your shipments and act as blocking, bracing and void fillers. Lightweight and easy to install corrugated pads can be produced in a number of sizes and widths to meet your loading and shipping needs.
Scored Pads (S-Pads) are used to create custom inner packing. S-Pads can have up to nine score lines to create many different shapes for keeping products from moving inside the corrugated box. S-Pads include corner pieces and angles can be made to fill almost any space to firmly hold products in the corrugated box.
Dividers are used to create separate compartments within a larger box to protect small or delicate products.
